TWO!
We're on vacation but went to have Chinese food for dinner as it's XiaoXiao's favorite. She was in a great mood and even waited for the food somewhat patiently (with the distraction of a cell phone).

She ate well, though spilled half a bowl of rice on the floor (AI would have been appalled), then wondered if Ariel could eat it. If she'd had her way, we would have picked food off the floor to bring home for her dogs. She did a good job of cleaning the table, however.

That was the biggest part of our day. We walked dogs, we played. Our day was simple and lovely. Birthdays, in fact, all days should be this way. We hope you had the same.

The Evening Walk

Whenever possible, the whole family walks the dogs in the evening. XiaoXiao can now do the entire walk, often at a run. It's a joyful time.

She isn't quite clear on the difference between asking for something with a "please" and answering with a "yes, please." So she often asks for what she wants and ends with "yes please?" Like, "walk up up yes please?"

Though she is an expert at the words "no" and "not," she can nod her head yes as well and, to my great delight, is practicing that more often.

She rarely asks to be carried on the walks, even when she's tired. Daddy's rule is that if she asks, he's the one who picks her, because Mommy's arms are tired by this time of day. I admit that I give in when she's very tired. I really can't resist her pleading, and hate to see her upset when she's been so good the rest of the day. But every so often, we have one of those wonderful moments when XX goes her Dada, puts her arms up and asks him to carry her. He lights up like you can't believe, she gets to rest her legs, and me? I get to see this:

Today

XiaoXiao practiced her dances (and added a little Flashdance moves in there as well).

And after her workout, she refueled.
